Contao
01 / Overview
No surprises on launch day.
Contao 4.13 sites still run, but they are past their long-term support window and every year on an old version makes the jump bigger. Page builders slow sites down and lock content into their own format.
We upgrade on a copy, compare every page before and after, and switch over only when nothing has moved.
02 / What's included
- Contao 4.13 and 5.3 to 5.7, including Isotope 2 to 3
- Templates moved to Twig and stylesheets updated for the new markup
- Moves off Divi, Thrive and other page builders onto native blocks
- Extension audits: upgrade, replace or port
- PHP upgrades to 8.3 and 8.4
- Redirects and search settings carried across

03 / How it runs
Baseline, upgrade, compare.
The upgrade itself is a few commands. The work is everything around it.
01
Baseline
A local copy of the live site and a screenshot of every page.
02
Upgrade
Core, extensions and templates, with a written list of every fix.
03
Compare
Every page checked against its baseline until the differences are only the intended ones.
04
Switch
A fresh install on staging, a final check, then the live switch with a rollback ready.
04 / From recent work
From recent work.
- An art supply manufacturer's Contao site moved from 5.3.39 to 5.7.13 on PHP 8.4 with Bright Cloud Studio: every template converted to Twig, and the CSS matched page by page.
- A Contao 4.13 to 5.7 and Isotope 3 upgrade for a manufacturer's store, with the migration fixes written down for the next one.
- A curriculum publisher's WooCommerce store taken off Divi and Thrive and onto native blocks, cutting plugins from 14 to 2.
